“Study the attributes [of God]. Labour to know them distinctly, effectually. Though faith be not knowledge, yet it is not without it. Nay, the more we know, the more we believe: Ps. 9:10 ‘Those that know thy name will trust in thee;’ thy name, i.e., those excellenceis whereby God is made known. Be much in thoughts of God, frequent, delightful, consistent, efficacious thoughts; such as bring a divine influence into the soul, and fill it with heat and light; leave deep impressions of God upon the heart… Those who have known much have believed much; much in contemplation, strong in faith, as Abraham, Moses. … “Show my thy glory: cause thy goodness to pass before me.’ Display thy glorious excellencies; dart out some lightsome beam that may discover thee; unveil thyself: open my eyes, scatter clouds, remove interpositions. The more ye see, the more ye believe.” –David Clarkson “Works” Vol. 1, p. 177-178
Grateful to have been married to my wonderful husband Michael for nearly 35 years who is now with the Lord, I would like to share from writers from the past who have strengthened our faith and walk with Jesus Christ our Savior and Redeemer. His walk with God was deeply enriched by the writings of authors from the past and I dedicate this blog to him and to them.
