” ‘And he said, I beseech Thee, show me Thy glory.’ (Ex. 33:18) And he said, ‘I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name ‘The Lord.’ And I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.’ …the goodness of God is God’s glory. …there is another attribute of God. There is his sovereignty. God’s goodness without his sovereignty does not completely set forth his nature. …’I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious.’ There is divine sovereignty. I believe some are afraid to say anything about this great doctrine lest they should offend some of their people; but, my friends, it is true, and you shall hear it. God is a sovereign. He was sovereign ere he made this world. …He has a right to do just as he pleases with us.” –Charles Spurgeon “Sermons” Vol. 2 “A View of God’s Glory”
Grateful to have been married to my wonderful husband Michael for nearly 35 years who is now with the Lord, I would like to share from writers from the past who have strengthened our faith and walk with Jesus Christ our Savior and Redeemer. His walk with God was deeply enriched by the writings of authors from the past and I dedicate this blog to him and to them.
