The First Call

“On the other hand, the Christian has ‘life and peace’, and primarily, ‘peace with God’. Here the Apostle portrays a man who really has come to a knowledge of God. The first thing that is true about the Christian is that he is the only man who has a true conception of God. The first call in preaching always should be a call to repentance. That was John the Baptist’s message, and also our Lord’s first call. It had been central in the prophets’ preaching. Repentance means to think again about God and yourself and the relationship between you; but the first call is to think again about God.”  –D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones “Romans 8:5-17” p. 44

About Maureen Stohlmeyer

Grateful to have been married to my wonderful husband Michael for nearly 35 years who is now with the Lord, I would like to share from writers from the past who have strengthened our faith and walk with Jesus Christ our Savior and Redeemer. His walk with God was deeply enriched by the writings of authors from the past and I dedicate this blog to him and to them.
