Call Upon Me In Trouble; I Will Deliver; You Shall Glorify

“It is God’s direction, to call upon him in trouble, Ps. 50:15, and it is his promise to deliver, and then both his direction and promise that we shall glorify him.  When troubles stirs up prayer, God’s answer to them will stir up praises.  David, when he says I shall praise God, pre-supposes that God will deliver him, that he may have ground of praising his name; and he knew God would deliver him, because as from faith he had prayed for deliverance, so he knew that it was God’s order in his dealing, to revive after drooping, and to refresh after fainting.  God knows otherwise that our spirits would fail before him.”  –Richard Sibbes, “Works…” Vol. 1, p. 246

About Maureen Stohlmeyer

Grateful to have been married to my wonderful husband Michael for nearly 35 years who is now with the Lord, I would like to share from writers from the past who have strengthened our faith and walk with Jesus Christ our Savior and Redeemer. His walk with God was deeply enriched by the writings of authors from the past and I dedicate this blog to him and to them.
