“Do we realize that our very believing the Gospel is by virtue of the power of God that works in us? I keep on asking the question because there is a strong tendency to talk in a supericial manner about ‘believing’, as if it were an easy thing which any man can do if he feels disposed to it. How lightly and glibly many talk about believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, or about believing the gospel! There is much talk about our need of power after we have become Christian, but how rarely does one hear anyting about the need of power before we become Christian! There is much emphasis on believing and ‘decision’; and it is suggested that anyone who wants to become a Christian can easily accomplish it.” –Martyn Lloyd-Jones “God’s Ultimate Purpose – Ephesians 1” (Baker) p. 406
Grateful to have been married to my wonderful husband Michael for nearly 35 years who is now with the Lord, I would like to share from writers from the past who have strengthened our faith and walk with Jesus Christ our Savior and Redeemer. His walk with God was deeply enriched by the writings of authors from the past and I dedicate this blog to him and to them.
