If you check out the Archived Posts section of this blog, you will notice that I have added a year’s worth of daily writings of Michael Stohlmeyer, my husband. These are dated October 2009 through September 2010. He devoted his life to studying the Word of God and grabbing hold of its promises for his own life. The Bible gave him the strength to hope in God in the midst of tremendous daily physical suffering. He wrote a blog entry each day for a year to share what he was thinking about to encourage others.
Mike has been with the Lord for almost three years now, and I often think that he is perhaps part of the “great cloud of witnesses”, fervently cheering us on with this truth of 2 Corinthians 4:16-18: “Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” He would say to us, “It will be worth it! Live for God and hide his Word in your heart! Study and prize God’s Word. Do not be distracted by the world’s toys and pleasures! Choose the good part which will not be taken away from you! The glory that will be revealed to you in a short time will prove what the true treasures are! Life is short, press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus! Count all things as loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus!”
