God’s Comfort

“Thomas Manton defined comfort thus: ‘Comfort is a strengthening of the mind when it is in danger of being weakened by fears and sorrows, or the strength and stay of the heart in trouble: ‘This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me’ (Ps.119:50). ‘Thou hast put gladness in my heart’ (Ps. 4:7). God’s comfort is like a soaking shower that goes to the root and refreshes the plants of the earth rather than a morning dew that wets only the surface. Other comforts tickle the senses and refresh the outward man, but this penetrates the heart.’ ” –A.W. Pink “Gleanings From Paul” p. 315

About Maureen Stohlmeyer

Grateful to have been married to my wonderful husband Michael for nearly 35 years who is now with the Lord, I would like to share from writers from the past who have strengthened our faith and walk with Jesus Christ our Savior and Redeemer. His walk with God was deeply enriched by the writings of authors from the past and I dedicate this blog to him and to them.
